Writing

Here is a quick 1 question quiz (but a tough one).

1.)  The process of writing is? (chose one answer)

a.)  Writing is a process of recording already developed thoughts.

b.)  Writing is a process of figuring out what you think.

Answer:  If we are to believe "Rules for Writers", (Diane Hacker, Nancy Sommers), then,"Writing is a process of figuring out what you think, not a matter of recording already developed thoughts".

Then they go on to say:

"Since it is not possible to think about everything all at once (What!, does that mean that I am not an idiot after allllahhhhh??!), most experienced writers handle a piece of writing in stages".

Believe it or not, this was a revelation to me.  Oh, I had had my own informal suspicions about the whole process.  But to hear it declared boldly and forthrightly, that, it is "a process of figuring out what you think", oh, my oh my.

This sounds like a very possible explanation as to what happened to me when I got online some 8 years ago.  What I did not realize then was that I was being sucked right into the very traumatic process of figuring out what I thought. The process of better developing my thoughts. I logged on... I wrote... I thought... and then I rewrote, and... all of the sudden things were much clearer.  And much more well developed.  Including the fact that I needed to learn better how to write.  And that still stands true today.

So for right now, I think I will stop writing and keep reading, "Rules for Writers".  And that should help the rest of the process.

Man, I so concur. You hit the nail on the head. This was my exact same experience. This includes convictions about our faith as well doesn't it. We thought we all had it figured out, but then when our thoughts were prunned, the painful process set us forth to question, yet in many areas I came right back around more emboldened and steadier in what I believe, still some chaff was blown away. I think we all are better for it and more able now to articulate what we are figuring out.

I think so. I think we all found out how far away from each other we were, and saw that something was wrong. It made everybody "go figure" I think.

I do wish a lot of those blogs were not deleted. But then ...the best should be yet to come. We would hope.

Nice job freeing yourself from the bondage to Facebook. It's a nice address, but I'd rather email people, or call them. Chattering on the phone is much richer. Plus its full of every kind of snare and junk advertising. Good riddance. Take care.

Thanks buddy. Yeah and some of the blogs are just dormant after a few years. Be nice to breathe a little life back in here. What I like about blogging is the slower pace and like my friend told me today, you don't get 46 likes for eating a tuna fish sandwich and fall prey to wanting to perpetrate more of it.
