Hymn: The Love of God is Greater Far.

___________

The Love of God

______________

Well... here's a rough draft.

It sounds much better on my computer than it does on a piece of high-fidelity digital equipment. I think eventually, with all the work I've been putting in on my voice, and the work I will continue to do, I may eventually be able to fool people into thinking I can sing. But as of right now, the verdict is still out.

The Love of God

To be honest, I wish I didn't have to sing it. But without the words it wouldn't be complete. I think if I knew I was wanting to be singing hymns for other people at this point in my life that I would have started working on the voice sooner.

I was directed to this hymn by ~Rose Cole, listened to it here at this website, and then tried to do an honorable job reproducing it above. In the process I really came to like it. Here's a beginning.

The Love of God

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell.
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child he reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.
__
When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall;
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hill and mountains call;
God's love, so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam's race
The saints' and angels' song.
__
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made;
Were ev'ry stalk on earth a quill,
And ev'ry man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Tho' stretched from sky to sky.
__
Chorus:
O, love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints and angels song.

I'm going to rephrase the "how measureless and strong" phrase when I update the vocal part in a month or two. See which way sounds smoothest.

Thank you, TODD! Thank you, thank you.
What a blessing! I really liked hearing you sing that. Your voice is very folksy. I like it!

God bless you and thank you for doing that. I will look for any future revisions or new songs with great anticipation.

:~)

Todd, that was very nice.

What software are you using?

Well you just blessed me back Kc by your encouragement brother. Same goes for you Jim. I value both of your opinions very much.

I didn't use software to record it, but I did use Realplayer's online software program to store it on my hard-drive Jim. And then I can browse from anywhere and post it online somewhere from their. Realplayer is the online software program that Windows defaults to.

To record the thing I used my new(used) Roland RD-700SX stage piano that I got on Ebay 2 months ago, and my Boss(Roland also) botom-of-the-line Studio-in-a-box which I bought about a year ago(I show a picture of it in a post back there 9-29-2006). Apart from knowing how to operate the thing a person also needs to understand the physics of sound, which I don't yet, and I've been concentrating instead mostly on my playing, on limited time, hoping to leave the technical sound to some one else. The best way I can engineer a finished recording is to capture each track here at home, make a disc of each track, and then send a stack of discs that make up one tune to someone to download and mix on their own equipment with their own production expertise. Isn't it amazing what this digital stuff enables a person to do? Good grief, so I'm looking forward to the process( very long one). First I have to concentrate on the playing though. And that's the equipment I've used so far. Thanks again you guys. It's been nice studying the word with you guys for the last 2 years.
